hate to tell you, Purchase = Investment. In this case, an investment in a long 4-5 year entertainment package.

@On Topic

I haven't lost any part of my investment, because I've followed the rules, didn't act like a fool and get banned.

I know it's hard to believe it, but I haven't. Being banned is a trend in Guildwars. Luckily for me, I don't follow trends.

Well except for the origional Prophecies I got all the expansions for a song from specials and discount pricings. I haven't spent $100 on the whole series total so it wouldn't be a major loss if I got banned but I ain't got banned and don't do things that would get me banned. The major loss would be all the stuff I've aquired over the years, but, if that happened I wouldn't start over anyways as the game is already boring enough without having to start over. I gave up a heck of a lot more when I left EQ and SWG and DAOC as I put in many years of play there also as well as their monthly fees. Something I will never do again is pay a monthly fee to play a game.

I guess $200 plus a lot of time... if I get banned. But then again, it's not like I'll loose my achievements if I would never be able to play GW again. I just wouldn't be able to flash it in people's faces.

I don't think of GW as an investment unless I did anti-EULA activities like RMT.

You purchased a CDkey and CD, and were allowed to install ArenaNet's game as well as given access to ArenaNet servers. Given the popularity of the game, considering there is no monthly fees, I think it's safe to say that ArenaNet didn't really care about your opinion before all this, and the fact that there are no monthly fees mean they care a lot less.
The bottom line is that you paid for access to the game, the game itself doesn't belong to you, it belongs to ArenaNet and you just paid for the CD, CDcase, CDkey and Box. That access was terminated when you decided to go anarchist and say the first thing that comes to your head in a game that has no monthly fees. You should've thought of that. It's one thing to be open minded and outspoken, it's another thing to be a complete idjit annoying every other person you come across in a video game designed for entertainment purposes. The game itself doesn't belong to you, you were simply allowed the rights to install the game through that CDkey. You still have your CDkey, but unfortunately your big mouth forced them to cut the access they had so graciously given you in a game that has no "Private Servers".

You guys sound like politicians who can't use the word "spend"; "investing" in Health care. "Investing" in Education. Rubbish.

You don't "invest" in food and you don't "purchase" savings accounts.

This is ridiculous and absurd. You have taken the idea of "you only bought some paper; everything else is licensed" far beyond reality.

Access is graciously given? Howabout this: go form a company, sell licensed software, then cut off access to everyone.

I'll be looking forward to hear how you respond when fifty state attorney generals start reaming you at once.

For everyone else: Yes, the company reserves the right to terminate the license if you violate their terms of service. However, they're expected to live up to the spirit of the agreement you made with them. Blatant bad behavior on a large scale (looking for silly violations, terminating accounts without good cause) is no different from selling you a broken product, and is illegal.

(I'm not disputing their right to a legitimate response against a real violator, but rather the idea that they have no responsibility to provide continued service otherwise.)

This thread is terrible. The premise of the thread is to add up what you've lost if you've been banned unjustly. Let me repeat that last bit - "if you've been banned unjustly."

Seeing as how none of you that have been banned have been banned unjustly (as defined by the people that run this game), there's no real point in this thread at all. Truthfully it doesn't matter if you've been banned "unjustly" or not. You've been banned. Talk to Support or live with it.

For the above reason, not to mention to rampant ramblings delving far into the off topic which would be reason enough to close or delete this thread, this thread is now closed.
